DESCRIPTION

Aoi Hana is a normal female high school student, though she is extremely clumsy and thus tagged as good-for-nothing. But Hana wants to change herself and decides that finding a part time job would be taking the first step in that direction. Being an animal lover, Hana's job of dreams is encountering animals day-to-day and taking care of them - the zoo sounds like the perfect place for that. So when she happens to see a job offer from a local animal park it's settled she'll attend a job interview.

When Hana arrives at the zoo everything seems just fine. The "Oumagadoki Zoo" might be going south but altogether it's your regular animal park. Just a very normal zoo, one might think. But that is only until Hana gets to meet the zoo director...

Oumagadoki Zoo, fue el 3 manga publicado de Horikoshi, autor y padre de __Boku No Hero Academia__, después de varios intentos, este fue uno de esos mangas que consiguió publicar y con una historia realmente interesante además de conseguir crear una primera idea para múltiples personajes que después reutilizaría para ___My Hero Academia___, como es __Uwabami, Shishido, Gang Orca, Mirko__ o __Shigaraki__.

La historia de esta obra nos cuenta sobre Aoi Hana una estudiante de preparatoria que todo el mundo piensa que es una buena para nada, decide buscar un trabajo de verano a medio tiempo, para demostrar de lo que vale y encontrar algo que le guste, primero buscando trabajo de algo que completamente adora, los Animales y cuidarlos así, encontrando un puesto de vigilante en un Zoo pobre demacrado sin nada realmente bueno, su trabajo limpiar y vigilar que todos los animales estén bien. Todo va bien hasta que Hana, conoce al "Jefe" del Zoo Oumagadoki, Shiina lo que ella cree que es un señor disfrazado, pero en realidad Shiina es una persona maldita por un espíritu de conejo, ya que el hobbie de Shiina era molestar a los animales. Para recuperar su verdadera forma tiene que hacer el mejor Zoo de todos así se romperá la maldición, con la ayuda de Hina tendrán que pasar por varias penurias... Y mas viendo que Shiina es un egocéntrico que solo quiere divertirse y le da igual todo el mundo, o eso quiere hacer el pensar a todos.

El estilo artístico para los animales es algo sublime, pasando por una idea de "Humanizar" a los animales pero manteniendo esa esencia suya y sean reconocibles, algo que tengo que decir Horikoshi hizo de forma sublime... ~~Menos con Uwabami, la hizo Medusa y ya~~, no le dejo nada de animal salvo el pelo, a pesar que con Shishido hace algo parecido, Shishido conserva un aspecto de ser un león joven, conservando las fauces en el cuello, la melena y similares. También es para mi opinión una queja social al maltrato de animales que podemos encontrar en múltiples centros, como son los Zoo, los Acuarios y los Circos, los 3 lugares con personas malditas y animales que son obligados a actuar como atracciones.

Algo muy interesante es el diseño monstruoso de los personajes y añadir detalles de Zoología para usar las habilidades de los animales, como la velocidad de un Guepardo comparándose con la velocidad de un Atún en el agua, o la fuerza de un Gorila contra la resistencia de grasa de una morsa y similares, mostrando datos curiosos desconocidos, dando un poco de vida a los animales.

Oumagadoki Zoo was the third manga published by Horikoshi, the author and creator of __Boku no Hero Academia__. After several attempts, this was one of the few manga he managed to get published, and it featured a genuinely interesting story. It also laid the groundwork for several characters he would later reuse in ___My Hero Academia___, such as __Uwabami, Shishido, Gang Orca, Mirko__, and __Shigaraki__.

The story follows __Aoi Hana__, a high school student everyone sees as useless. She decides to get a part-time summer job to prove her worth and maybe find something she's passionate about. She starts looking for a job related to what she truly loves—animals and taking care of them. That’s how she stumbles upon a position as a guard at a rundown zoo with nothing really going for it. Her job is to clean and make sure the animals are okay. Everything seems normal until Hana meets the “Director” of Oumagadoki Zoo, Shiina—whom she initially thinks is just a man in a rabbit costume. In reality, Shiina is a human cursed by a rabbit spirit, as his former hobby was tormenting animals. To break the curse and regain his human form, he must turn the zoo into the best one in the world. With Hana’s help, they go through all sorts of struggles… especially since Shiina is an egocentric maniac who only wants to have fun and pretends not to care about anyone—or so he wants others to believe.

The artistic style for the animals is sublime, blending a sense of humanization while keeping their essence recognizable. I have to say, Horikoshi handled this beautifully... ~~except for Uwabami—he just turned her into Medusa~~, basically. She doesn’t really keep any animal traits beyond her hair. Shishido, on the other hand, is a great example: he still looks like a young lion, with fangs around his neck, a mane, and other distinct features. In my opinion, this manga also works as social criticism about animal abuse found in places like zoos, aquariums, and circuses—all three settings in the story are tied to cursed people and animals forced to act like attractions.

Another very interesting element is the monstrous character designs and the use of zoological details to showcase animal abilities—like comparing the speed of a cheetah to a tuna in water, or the strength of a gorilla versus the fat-based resistance of a walrus. These tidbits reveal curious and lesser-known facts, breathing life into the animals.
