DESCRIPTION
The anime's story is set in a prosperous city named Russell City. Even as the city celebrates its success, a conspiracy that threatens to shake its world has been set in motion. A man named Sword is the first to hear the earliest stirrings of the plot, and throws himself into a shadow war in order to expose it. His only clue is the keyword "El Dorado." He meets Sophie, a woman searching for her older brother who left her with only a message with the same word: "El Dorado." With Sword having also lost his younger sister in the past, both are drawn together by the word, and work together to find out its meaning.

80/100A dumb fun action show that I ended up liking way more then I thought I wouldContinue on AniList-
Okay so after marathoning Garo: Vanishing Line over the course of a week I have finally finished the show and here on my complete thoughts on it. Okay, so in all honesty I have very mixed feelings about this show because there are a lot of things I like in it, like them leaving the main city halfway into the show was a really cool thing to happen since most shows don’t do that, they instead just stay in the same fucking setting the whole run of the show, but here we actually go and explore the world with a road trip which was cool since again that is not very common in anime. I also liked that they kill the nun because that was honestly one of the VERY few things that I genuinely did not see coming, and I also liked the character’s overall since they were meant to be over the top as fuck and they accomplished that very well. But then my problems really come in near the ending of the show, with the whole conclusion to the story being predictable as FUCK and I knew that it was going to be like this, but it just got even more predictable the longer you watched it and sure that one scene where the horror basically *** her brother was creepy as fuck, but that doesn’t make up for the fact that I saw it coming five episodes in advance, also the last episode was rushed as FUUUCCCCKKK like okay let’s go through all the shit that happens, 1# we had a sword fight with the main bad guy and win, 2# then Sofie is forced to forget everything in the same fucking bullshit way they do it in Fantastic Beasts, 3# then we do a whole bullshit time skip to see how her life is, 4# then Sophie remembers everything and goes to the dinner, 5# and then we still have that a whole conversation about her wanting to become an alchemist,-
and all this happens in like 20 minutes, so no wonder this feels cluttered as fuck, because it was. Also, it being so cluttered near the end makes no sense to me, when we spend like 2 episodes near the middle of the series on 1 fucking fight. But whatever maybe I’m putting way too much thought into a show that was meant just to be a fun action-adventure show with titties and muscle men, so because of this I feel like giving this show overall an 80/100 because even though there are flaws in this show, there are a lot of the elements in it that I really liked, not to mention the music was great and the whole shaky-cam thing they were doing at the beginning quickly stopped in the series which made all the fights much better to watch and not to mention I still enjoyed this show way more than other shows like B: the beginning, Devilman: Crybaby, and Killing Bites which were other dumb action shows that I finished in the last few months. so yeah those were my thoughts in case anyone was wondering😅Kendyl
75/100An unexpectedly hard hitting seriesContinue on AniListI luckily went into this series with high anticipation due to my favorable opinion towards sci-fi/futuristic series and I can say I wasn't disappointed! The premise of this story starts with our main guy "Sword", fighting the "horrors" (aka monsters) that are more or less our main enemy, his goal is to find this "El Dorado" place that we know nothing about, quite literally nothing. We then meet our main girl "Sophie" who's looking for her lost brother who left her with only a single message "El Dorado" which is how these two characters coincide with each other, having a common goal. The power system in this story is definitely brushed over, we don't really know how it exists, how you learn it, but fortunately it's not entirely relevant to the story (I STILL WANNA KNOW HOW IT WORKS). Garo is filled with action packed fights and above average animation that surpassed my expectations with flying colors (before I realized this was MAPPA). We go through a variety of settings in this story like Russell City, the Desert, El Dorado, and the true El Dorado. Each of these settings are mildly different but refreshing to see compared to the typical Sci-Fi dystopian series where the setting is the only civilization that we know of. Arguably, the first half of this show is your typical Man V.S Monster action series. We find the people who are vulnerable to the horrors, kill the horrors, repeat without getting any substantial information on our end goal. However, I think the story truly shines in the second half where things start to pick up and we finally get a sense of direction. There are some amazing animation sequences that we get to see later in the story that I think are worth sticking around for and the plot only got better for me as we got towards those final episodes. Once we get into the city of El Dorado we meet the servants of the "King" of El dorado, which makes us as the watchers question who the king is. Is it someone we know? Does the king even exist? Pretty early on I was able to predict that the King was our main girls brother because I can't say that it's an original twist. BUT, we later learn that her brother had no knowledge of what was going on in the outside world. We got to see that he was battling his own psychological turbulence after learning about what the cost of "El Dorado" had on the real world, humanities eradication. Yes the ending was rushed and yes it felt like some things still had to be covered, but that's nothing new in modern anime its just something that you have to expect with any show that isn't 50+ episodes. What I think the show did a great job on was it's characters, we get back stories on pretty much everyone and I can say these characters were made to be likeable, there's nobody in the main cast that I find to be filler, unnecessary, or just overall irrelevant. I even felt attached to the minor side characters early on due to the heartbreaking stories we get to experience and what leads them to fall victim to the horrors. This is by no means a ground breaking revolutionary series, but I think it deserves more recognition within the genre that it is as I would consider it better than similar series in this scope. 1000% recommend this to people who enjoy action-y shows with great battle sequences and I had a very enjoyable time getting to watch this in such a short period of time! __Another disclaimer that my ratings may be a bit flimsy, I've used the star system for quite a while so my ability to transfer my thoughts into a 100 point score could be a little bit different than what I truly think.__
