Shrine of the Morning Mist's Hiroki Ugawa Launches Fantasy Manga on May 30

The June issue of Shonengahosha's Young King Ours magazine reported on April 30 that Hiroki Ugawa will launch a manga titled "Engage for Princess" in the magazine's next issue on May 30. (Ugawa later clarified that the English title is The Engage for Princesses.) The first chapter will have 48 pages with a color opening page.The classic fantasy battle manga centers on Kerin, the princess of the Red Dragon Kingdom. She learned swordsmanship from her one-eyed dark elf attendant Leila, and thus earned the nickname of Knight Princess. Kerin dreams of reuniting with the "Prince of the Lake,' who saved her in the past and handed her a ring. Kerin engages in a battle with three other royal princesses to marry the prince. Ugawa recently ended his Post Kids manga in September 2023. The manga launched in Young King Ours in October 2021. Shonengahosha published the manga's third and final compiled book volume in December 2023. Ugawa ended his Nekogoze manga in February 2017. Ugawa began the series in July 2014. He then launched the Kuro no Sōzō Shōkanshi: Tenseisha no Hangyaku manga with author Sora Ikui in 2017 and ended the series in three volumes. The third volume shipped in June 2020. Ugawa's 2001 manga Asagiri no Miko (Priestesses of the Morning Mist or Shrine of the Morning Mist) was adapted into a 12-episode television anime in 2002 starring Rie Kanda, Sayaka Ōhara, Mayumi Asano, and Megumi Hayashibara. Tokyopop once published the manga in North America. Media Blasters licensed the anime for North American home video release, and released it on Blu-ray Disc in January 2021.Source: Young King Ours June issue
