Naver Webtoon Launches 1st Tower of God Side Story Urek Mazino
Naver WEBTOON released Urek Mazino, the first official side story of the webtoon Tower of God, on April 28 in Korea. The new series will be serialized every Tuesday.Written and illustrated by SIU, Urek Mazino explores the untold past of one of Tower of God's most powerful and mysterious characters. As an "Irregular" who entered the Tower on his own, Urek Mazino later becomes the vice commander of Wolhaiksong, one of the story's three major factions. The side story will reveal, for the first time, Urek's life before entering the Tower and his motivations for climbing it in search of the top-ranked figure, Phantaminum.Originally launched in 2010, Tower of God has surpassed 5 billion views globally. The series is published in 10 languages, including English, Japanese, and French. It has since been adapted into games, animation, and other media. The anime's first season debuted on Crunchyroll in April 2020, and the anime's second season debuted in July 2024. The second season aired for two consecutive cours (quarter of a year).Naver WEBTOON stated the release of Urek Mazino is part of its effort to expand the narrative universe of its most popular IPs, while also enhancing content diversity and reader engagement on the platform.Currently, an official English version of the side story is not available.Source: Naver WEBTOON's press release
